The studio is ready for art-making.

Classes will start in September!

  



As many of you know, my husband and I moved to Vermont about a year ago to be closer to my daughter. We bought a fixer-upper house in Middlebury, Vermont and dove into a very huge project!

I have just formed Judy Albright Fine Art LLC and I now have a wonderful new studio space where I will be able to teach painting and drawing classes.  

In addition, I am working on developing some one-time art experiences called Creativity Uncorked! More to follow on that!

Introduction to Pastels
with Judy Albright

Love color and want to make some beautiful art? Worried about your drawing skills? Not sure if you are going to like pastels? It’s OK! There is no need to invest in materials and instruction until you think you are going to enjoy it. These two FREE classes offer guided instruction and will be fun and relaxing. All materials will be provided. No experience is required and absolute beginners are welcome! 
Ages:        Adults & mature teens welcome  
When:      2 Tuesdays, September 5th  & 12th, 6:30-8:30pm

PLAYING WITH PASTELS for Beginners 
In this stress free, fun class participants will experience a nurturing community atmosphere that will ignite artistic and personal growth whether you are a first time explorer or have had some experience.
Students in this class will develop basic pastel painting techniques while discovering their own style. Using guided, personalized instruction students will improve their drawing skills and learn how to chose colors and tones that create harmony in their work and enhance their ability to compose their pastel paintings effectively. 
Ages:        Adults & mature teens welcome
When:      5 Tuesdays, September 19th – October 24th, 6:30 – 9:00pm

DRAW, PAINT, CREATE! for two dimensional media
Designed for students with some experience in their medium - graphite, oil, pastel, acrylic, or watercolor. This class will enjoy a supporting studio atmosphere that will inspire artistic growth through individual attention. Among topics to be discussed will be color, value, composition and developing style, but will be guided by the needs and desires of those attending. 
Ages:        Adults & mature teens welcome  
When:      5 Mondays, September 18th – October 23rd, 1:00-3:30pm 
Fee:          $175 
Students bring the materials of their choice

Bird Inspiration!

I have been wanting to paint birds for a while and today I was talking to an artist friend and she has been doing just that! Yesterday another friend of mine sent me some pictures of birds that she and her husband took, so the two inspirations came together and I started on a painting from this photo. Thanks Linda and Liz! I chose a simple palette of mostly Nupastels and a few other brands. I did a rough drawing using charcoal and some light pastel pencils. I love to work on this grey Ampersand sanded board! Then I just starting to block in colors thinking of values rather than local color.  I wanted the painting to be more colorful than the photo. I was going for an iridescent quality. I really enjoyed working on this and it seemed to almost paint itself! I think I am finished (might tweak it a bit)... "Feeding the Goldfinches", pastel on board, 11x14"  For sale... Comfort Zone Revisited

"My Happy Place", pastel 12x12" "Life begins at the end of your comfort zone" Neale Donald Walsch I have had a few days of not being in a happy place, painting wise. Nothing was going right. I thought I had forgotten all I knew about painting. What was going on?  I had started a painting that was giving me so many problems because the board I was painting on was very rough and didn't accept the pastel in a way I was used to at all. What a struggle. I finally went back to it today and wrestled my way through it. Still not happy! I started a new painting on a board that I love and am familiar with. Wow! What a difference. Here is the progression... This is my charcoal sketch which carefully included the values I will be wanting to remember as I paint. First rough in that follows the map I have laid out.
