Abstract Realism

Abstract realism is a form of art that falls between a  realistic depiction of the world and a non-representational abstraction.

Rather than being separate and opposed, these approaches come together to strengthen each other.

The artist who can make realistic images, takes that skill and creates a more abstract painting that is greater than sum of them both.

Here is an example... artwork of Casey Klahn!
His work is so fresh and exciting to me.

The next series of classes will focus on getting more abstract with our art. Classes will start on Friday, July 10th, 1 - 4 PM at the  Northlight Art Center. Please let me know if you would like to attend!
